Sandra Yuen MacKay is a Canadian-born Chinese living in Vancouver,British Columbia. As a teenager, she started to develop symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia. Her current diagnosis is schizoaffective disorder. My Schizophrenic Life: The Road to Recovery from Mental Illness is a true story about her struggles, coping strategies, and journey toward wellness as an artist, writer and advocate. Her creativity stems from her positive and negative energies and extensive imagination fueled by her extreme moods and delusions. She has a Fine Arts Diploma from Langara College and a bachelor's degree in art history from the University of British Columbia. She's given approximately fifty talks about recovery and her journey to students,families and mental health professionals. Her aim is to build awareness and inspire hope for others.
